We were very lucky to part of a ceremony to unveil and dedicate a 'Tommy Silhouette' in memory of Private John Henry Parr, the first British soldier killed in action during the First World War on the 21st August 1914.
Edez wrote and narrated her own poem at the ceremony;
In A Battlefield
A gun shot fired
The sky was smoking
Stampedes of men emerged from the trenches
Shouts echoed through the trenches
Bullets sprayed across the field
Any surroundings destroyed
Those men had the hearts of lions
And sacrificed their lives for ours
We will, forever, remember them.
Edez also got chance to sit in the mayor's car!
