Bonjour Parents and Carers,
Cette semaine, nous avons eu la fête du français et c'était incroyable. In other words, this week we had French Day and it was amazing! See the photographs further on in the letter. Thank you to Mrs. Goldhill for organising the day and to Seb our chef for putting on a French feast; the children had a wonderful day.
The teachers have also been assessing the children over the last two weeks and have been pleased with the efforts the children have made and hopefully we have managed to close quite a few gaps in their learning. The teachers will share the assessments in your child’s end of year report which will come out to you on Monday 19th July. That day will also be Changeover Day for the children where they will find out who their teacher and teaching assistant is for the following year, an exciting day!
As the 16th would have been our Back to Together BBQ we will be having Party day in school instead, this will be a non-uniform day. This day will not only be full of fun, it will be chance for the children to socialise, ‘let their hair down’ and look after their well-being! It is important that they have this opportunity; it has been a tough year for everyone and I couldn’t be prouder of how resilient the children and the Northside team have been. Other fun activities for improving happiness and mental health can be found on our website on the Keeping Your Child Safe page in the Mental Health section. Mental Health is just important as Physical Health so please have a look. There is also a link to the new Barnet Local Offer website page which has lots of ideas to support your child’s mental health. https://www.northsideschool.co.uk/mental-health/
With the increase in cases of Covid 19 amongst children it is vital that you do not send your child to school with a cough, temperature, sore throat or nausea. Your child will need to have a PCR test and have a negative result before coming back. Thank you for your continued support, as a school we have been incredibly lucky not to have a child test positive yet and I think this is down to all of us following the risk assessment plan and being very vigilant. Fingers crossed we make it to the end of the year!
Congratulations to the winners of our parents’ reading bingo which were Ms. Ivanyuk (mum of Anton Y1, Adele Y3, Amelia Nursery) and Mrs. Has (mum of Robin Y4 and Ronya Reception). Prizes will be coming your way soon. Miss Glancy is working on a reading bingo for the summer break so I hope more of you will have chance to join in, I am certainly going to give it a go!
