Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been another exciting week as Northside. This week the Key Stage 1 apparatus was replaced using the Sports Premium Grant, the team started on Monday and yesterday the children got to have some fun! Including some adults. Not only will it make the play times more active there are also lesson plans to go with the apparatus so Mr. Vass will be using them during this term in some PE lessons. As well as the apparatus we also got a new stage area for performing with blackboards to encourage their writing and artistic skills. You can see photos later on in the newsletter.
We have ended the week with a Smarties day and the children have solved many maths problems using just one tube! I understand there are no Smarties left in the whole of North Finchley! So not only have the children had fun and learnt many things we have supported our local community.
Remember to check TEAMs each Friday for the class message and Homework Grids will be uploaded this week. By the end of next week curriculum letters will also be uploaded, these will outline our 10 week plan for the Summer term. Mr Harper and I have started to meet with all class teachers to discuss the progress of each child and decide on strategies to close gaps in learning including interventions. However we must all realise that we cannot make up 18 months of disrupted learning in just 10 weeks but we certainly try our best.
Holiday Club was a great success and we will be holding it again during May half term so book early to avoid disappointment. You can now book on School Money. Thank you Ms. Parry, Ms. McGuirk, Ms. Ellis and Ms. Matsu for all their effort and had work for creating such fun activities. You can see the photos on our website under the clubs page.
Another new club that is open to Northside children is Code Ninjas which will starting after the half term. You may have noticed the new banners around the school. Code Ninjas will be based in the room above our new 2 Year Old Nursery after school and on Saturdays, more information is later on in the newsletter.
On Friday Ms. Parry, Mrs. Milligan and I met with the new local sergeant to highlight again the anti-social behaviour that occurs in the car park and the surrounding alleyways. We have had a few incidents, again, of young people trying to use our car park as a toilet and a place to deal drugs. If you see something please make sure you phone the police, the more we report the more chance we have of changing the situation. So please make sure you phone every time you see something. We need to take control of our neighbourhood to keep our children safe!
Have a lovely, long weekend and we will see you on Tuesday 4th of May.
