We've had an interesting start to the week! Again, I would like to thank all parents and carers for their support regarding the disruptions on Monday and Tuesday.
This week in English, Year 5 have been researching different types of quest stories such as Perseus and Medusa, Finding Nemo and Harry Potter as well as exploring the impact of each stage of a quest. Next week, we will be planning and writing our own quest stories. We will also be learning about simple and complex expanded noun phrases in order to add detail to our writing. In Maths, we've been focusing on various types of charts, graphs and tables. We discussed where we would use these skills in real life and worked hard when reading and interpreting.
Yesterday, we had a lovely birthday party to celebrate Mahdy and Vincent who have had their birthday since September. It was a lovely opportunity, allowing the children to share a fun moment with balloons and games. I had a great time creating Christmas decorations with some of the children! Today, we put up our Year 5 Christmas tree - complete with some of the decorations the children made at the birthday party.
A huge well done to all of Year 5 for receiving the Head Teacher's award for being so mature and supportive of one another. They have made Northside proud!
Reminder: As we missed a day of school, we have extended the UNICEF sale to Monday. If you would still like to buy any products please bring in the correct money in an envelope on Monday.
Have a lovely weekend!
