Introduction to the governing team at the Flourishing School Federation
Welcome, we thought we’d use this as an opportunity to outline the role and ambitions of the governing body and to introduce the team.
School governors are the volunteers who are voted onto the governing body by either parent/carer community, the local authority, staff, or the current governing body according to the type or skill needed for the successful running of the school. The headteacher is automatically a member of the team. Governors oversee and advise the schools’ management and are responsible for long-term goals and strategy, but not the day to day running of the school. All our federation governors are volunteers from the local community, parents, local businesspeople, former pupils, staff, local councillor or Barnet council. There are different types of governors depending on each governor’s role.
The governors meet as the Full Governing Body (FGB) to review and advise on strategic issues. There are two committees – Resources Committee and Quality of Education Committee, who are responsible for specific topics and reporting back to the FGB. Each governor also takes on a specific responsibility to help all schools withing the Flourishing Schools Federation.
Governor Diversity Statement ...
As a school we recognise that diversity of background, thought, and perspective is essential to good governance. We believe that the makeup of the governing body should, where possible, reflect the richly diverse community we serve.
As a governing body, we gather data on diversity and skills annually and strive to recruit new members to represent any areas we find lacking.
If you have any questions or concerns about the diversity of the governing body please contact Anahita Milligan or David Hood (Co-chair of Governors) via clerk@northsideprimary.co.uk
